Summer Accessories for Bedroom

Hi guys, so carrying on with the theme of summer I was thinking about how we change our clothes for season and I thought, well we decorate our bedrooms too. Now this doesn't mean we need to go painting every season, but just by adding a few things to your room will give it more or seasonal feel and help you feel calm and in the mood for summer.

A bit of background to my bedroom. My theme all year round is white, grey and pink. One of my walls is painted geometrically with these colours (I will do a step by step tutorial on this). I  do have a lot of copper accents to my room as well.

Firstly, Flowers. Flowers are seasonal like anything else. But I only occasionally buy real flowers. Fake flowers are such good quality and value today that they are just as good as the real thing.
I tend to buy mine from Ikea or Leekes (Leekes is a department store here in the UK, it originated in Wales and most of their stores are still in wales). I suggest bulk buying for the 2 seasons at a time, so spring and summer flowers are very similar in colour and so are autumn and winter colours (except you can add white to winter). I also like to spray my flowers with my favourite summer perfume so that they "give of" a fragrance.

Lighten the place up. If you normally go for dark sheets and curtains, maybe change up for summer. Bringing the light inside the house will enhance the light outside. Also having a light room will lighten your mood and make up feel calm and relaxed. What could be better? Maybe change to white sheets and a colourful floral curtain set. And cushions are a must. These will add comfort to your room and make the hard shapes of furniture seem softer.

Candles. A lot of people associate candles with winter, but candles are a great way for you to create a summer feel inside. Maybe a fresh linen candle for a crisp white room? Or maybe a cocktail/ summer fruit candle for more of a punch of scent in a colourful room? Stay away from spiced candles and orange or cherry, these are more autumn scents.

Beach themed accessories. These are everywhere in summer, from seashells to beach signs, these can make you feel at the beach and bring some happy holiday memories.

Colourful garland or fairy lights. I love fairy lights and these can be used all year round to give your room an extra bit of sparkle and light.
