Slimming World. Does it actually work?

Hey guys, Happy New Year. Hope you all had a lovely Christmas break, and had lots of yummy food. 
Now, one of the biggest new year resolutions is to lose weight. And how many people give up after the first week. I follow slimming world and I am going to tell you why, if you are serious about losing weight, this programme will be good for you. 
DISCLAIMER: I am no way saying that you are guaranteed to lose a lot of weight during this. It is health certified. I AM NOT making money off of this post. This is just about my personal experience doing it.

I started slimming world on the 29th of June 2017. My starting weight was 16 stone 13 1/2 pounds. After 6 months my weight is now 15 stone 12. Overall that is 1 stone 1 and 1/2 pounds that I have lost. That averages 2.5 pounds a month. 
In the first month is wen you lose the most, averagely, I lost 7 pounds in my first month. Second month, I lost 2. Third month, 5 and 1/2. Fourth month, stayed the same. 
My consultant always says that joining slimming world should fit into your lifestyle not become it. So don't treat it like it's a diet. treat it like you are becoming healthier and being more mindful of what you put into your body. 

To start you follow 3 simple steps. 
Step 1 you choose your free food. This is what most of your food should be. this list consists of fruits, vegetables, certain fish, meat and poultry, meat replacements, eggs, dairy products, rice, pasta and grains, beans, peas and lentils. Extra free foods are marmite, soy sauce, tomato puree, sweeteners and more. This is a restricted list but so much is free that you won't need to syn a lot of your food. 
Step 2 you choose your healthy extras. These and in addition to all the free foods above, each day you choose a healthy extra a and b. Healthy extra A will be either milk or cheese. Healthy extra B will be cereals, bread, crispbreads, Dried fruits, canned fruits and cooked fruit, soups and nuts and seeds. These are all high in fats which is why they need to be monitored and weighted each day if you want them. 
Step 3 choose your syns. All food that isn't free has a syn value and you can look up hundreds in the book or on the app. There are also many online blogs that will tell you some syn values. you can enjoy between 5 to 15 syns a day. 

For example, my daily food diary.
Breakfast- Strawberries (free and are speed food which help with weight loss), 40g of choc chip weetabix minis (healthy extra B (all)) with 100ml of semi-skimmed milk(healthy extra A(some)).
Lunch- Jacket Potato (free), baked beans in tomato sauce (free and protein) and cup of tea with 40ml of milk (HEA (some)) 
Dinner-  Slimming world sticky chicken(2 syns for the honey), rice (free), mangetout, green beans, broccoli and baby sweetcorn.
Snacks- orange and a plum (free), Hi fi bar (3 syns), cadbury freddo (5 syns) Options hot chocolate (2 syns) with rest of milk left (110 ml).

I hope I have given you a bit of an idea about slimming world and have shown you its not as scary as it seems. The first step is getting through the door, and that takes a lot of courage believe me. Once you've done that you can commit and really do it. 

I love slimming world and going back every week and staying for the class really helps me to think about the week ahead. That's all you have to do. look out for that week, don't look further. Yes you have a goal to reach but take it week by week. Plan that week, your food, do you have any thing going on that you might struggle with. Your fellow slimmers are there to help you. We can help if you are struggling for ideas for breakfast that are quick, easy and syn free. We can help when you have a wedding on day to go to and you want to eat the food. Well that's one meal off plan out of the 21 that week and we can help make sure you are on plan for the rest. 

REMEMBER this isn't taking over your life you need to incorporate it into your already existing life.
